Mamarazzi of Sayn

Spending two weeks in Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, Germany. Found the story of the royal family Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn. Marianne, Dowager Princess zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn born in Austria (1919), now 98 years old. Which surprisingly is a photographer, spent time taking photos of the elite. I found the book of her photography and I was got amused by the fabrics, long theatrical names and poses. Seeing this from a different world!.

SAYN WORK SPACE PART 1

I had the opportunity to spend time in an art project having an work space in Sayner Hütte, Germany. The historic iron foundry Sayner Hütte is one of the most important examples of the early industrial era in Germany. In particular, the casting hall, which was designed and built in 1828, is one of the first monumental cast iron constructions with an exceptionally high design claim that occupies an outstanding position in European and worldwide architectural history.

So what I did there, I used ‘the working space’ Literally the Sayner Hütte (the industrial casting hall) to work on handmade black clay sculptures (the black clay I collected from the ground in the near forest) imitating the iron cast human figurative sculptures I found in the showroom, which they were made in the same Hütte, so the idea of having both the past industrial version made of iron and casted. and the present, handmade with an organic shape and material. That also simulate movement. Since I did a body movement studies, following the sound of the hütte.

The sound had a bit, the bit of working tools, which made me move in suggestion of work. later then, I recorded the sound, and put it an extra layer of the video of me moving.

I put them all together, in the Hütte. Were the body movement studies happened, were the sculptures where made, and the sound was recorded. So it’s kind of the images on top of the images and sounds and all the of the same and the same.
some kind of symbiosis which you can find the gestation in the body moves.

The sculptures work together with the video laying on the floor, I showed the video on an Iphone and the video was projected on a screen in the Hütte. For me the reason to put them both together is they’re both enchanted.

Beside these, I made a video called “Mamarazza” based on the photography book of the princes Marianne Sayn Wittgenstein, were she shows her green light in the elite, were she is widely know. She captured her environment for fifty years by taking photographs. So, what i did was I went closely with the video camera through out all the pages of the book capturing all the details of clothings, hair styles, hand gestures, and the most important the names… all the names are so long and theatrical together with the poses and characters. It makes it all a big real theatre. In one of her photographs she captures the car accident were one of her siblings die and even that it has all the theatrical aspect. The sound of the video is a recital of all the names written in the book, expressing irony of the fact of the elite theatre.
